Two of the families couldn’t meet with him .... they were at the funerals for their loved ones. Others refused to meet with him. The newspaper publisher or whoever the guy is that the news media keeps talking to, said it was very weird that it was all so “secretive” (i.e. Obama trying to avoid ‘bad press’). He is going to keep pursuing the details of the meeting(s) and report them.
Obama said he was going so he had to ‘save face’ (what’s left of it) by going despite the protests. The bigger factor was that he needed the Roseburg stop so he could charge his trip to the west coast to the taxpayers & not to the DNC fundraiser that he was attending the next day. Where do you get that he went to SD for a round of golf? He actually went to a fundraiser dinner in Seattle right after visiting Roseburg. I believe he was there to help Sen(D-WA) Patty Murray in her bid for re-election. From what I have heard the Pubbie challenger has a strong chance of winning.
