Recent articles from North Koreas state media and satellite imagery indicate one of North Koreas large scale construction projects, the Pyongyang Central Zoo, is nearing completion.
The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) claims the zoo is increasingly populated with exotic animals like hyenas and antelope. This year alone, the report claims 90 species have been added to the zoo and another 100 bred there, totaling nearly 800 animals.
More than 240 animals of 57 kinds came to the Central Zoo in Pyongyang recently from various countries, a June KCNA article reads.
While the report did not specify which countries, trade figures indicate a wide variety of animal exporter destinations to North Korea over the years, from Asian to South American nations.
In the last two years however only three countries have made any significant animal exports to North Korea: Russia, Holland and South Africa, which at the end of 2014 sent the most valuable shipment of any country in recent years.

P!
I’m guessing they probably do double duty as consumers of the flesh of the Chia Pet’s political opponents.
Holland? It should be against the law for anyone there to send animals to N.Korea. Where are the animal rights activists?
Is this delightful new zoo within walking distance from the The Ryugyong Hotel?
A night at the famous ‘hotel of doom’ is on my list, a day at the zoo would go well.
Sadly the hotel of doom is yet to accept reservations.
I'll bet they don't order laughing ones.
PetsMart?

Probably from PETA they know for killing their animals in their sheltars that was big scandal couple years ago in LA
Would not surprise me to learn that the leadership of the animal rights activists have greasy palms.
