Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told "Face the Nation" in an interview set to air in full on Sunday that he'd "be okay" with Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisconsin, as speaker of the House, despite the fact that Ryan "doesn't seem to want" the job.
"Well, I think he's somebody that probably that could get good support," Trump said of Ryan, who has been pressured by GOP lawmakers to enter the leadership race since House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-California, abruptly removed himself from consideration Thursday. "I think he's a very nice person. I think he doesn't want it very badly, but you never know. Maybe he's playing one of the great games of all time. It is Speaker of the House, I mean, it's a great position. But he doesn't seem to want it. But I'll bet you that if it was actually offered to him, he would take it."

Trump would be able to control Ryan, so I can see why he’d be okay with Paul Rino as Speaker.
Not an endorsement.
And when Dickerson asked whether he’d be okay with Ryan as speaker, Trump replied, “I would be okay.”
Who’s your choice? Just wondering. I’m not seeing anybody I would be passionate on supporting stepping up to the plate.
I wouldn’t mind Jim Jordan.
Good choice but it does not look like he will do it.
If nobody steps up to the plate we really have no choice.
Trump is a strong leader, so he’d be able to keep Ryan in check.
Newt Gingrich has sent up a trial balloon, floating his name for the spot. I think Newt would be fantastic, for the most part. Now, if I can just block that distressing image of Newt and Nancy Pelosi side by side on that Love Seat, all will be okay.
I think Ryan is a terrible choice he’s back stabbed conservatives, backed amnesty, lost a debate to Biden and has a 55% conservative voting record, Boehner had a 43% conservative voting record. We can do better than Paul Ryan.
I think Ryan does whatever Ryan is told to do, no matter who is pulling the strings. Just looking at him you can see weakness oozing.
It is rather interesting no one has truly tried to grab this position and run with it. The ball is now back in the conservative court. The weeping drunk pulled his punch and is awaiting their move. While we sit and watch the rest of the lot out themselves. This is rather sad, because none of our “conservative” leaders seem willing to throw their neck on out there and grab the gavel. They must move forward with the Meadows resolution and force a vote.
Both sides look like squeeling pigs waiting for their slop.
More proof that Trump is not really conservative - not that there’s anything wrong with that.
Paul Ryan has a 55% conservative voting record, he is not a friend to conservatives and would be a horrible choice for speaker.
Trump would be ok with Ryan as Speaker of House because he’s a nice guy and could probably get support. Even though he doesn’t seem to want the job.
Ok, then.
At first Trump said we needed someone tough. Now being nice and getting support is ‘okay’?
Scott Walker, who droppedout and Rubio agree with 99% of Ryan’s positions.
Apparently.
Strike!!!
Nor would I, but I’d rather save him for bigger things. The more I think about, tho, the more perfect Newt would be. He knows the job, was incredibly successful in the job, and has already taken all the slings and arrows.
