You would risk war with Russia over an issue that the average American is less passionate about than the new Halloween Whopper at Burger King?
Who is going to fight that war, You? Americans for the most part have ZERO interest in Syria or who rules it.
1. You’ve given a bully (Putin, AKA the Mussolini of the new millennium) a victory. He won’t stop here. He’ll move on the Baltic States (NATO members) or Israel next. That’ll mean war for sure. Only superior force stops a bully. Russia is not the mighty USSR. It’s a faint shadow of that, with a pretense of greatness.
2. You’ve given Iran a wholly undeserved victory, and a launch point against Israel, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States. If you think the Mullahs are a PITA now you ain’t seen nothing yet. And besides, Iran has yet to have received a comeuppance for the Hostage Crisis. Karma can’t wait forever.
To your point #1. Syria has been allied with the Russians for fifty years.
To your point #2. Syria has been allied with the Iranians for nearly as long.
To my original point. The Americans loudly and clearly say NO to war in Syria. They do not care. It is unwise to go to war with another powerful nation when your people have no interest in the conflict. None! Zippo! Nada!
