Great article! Thanks for posting! I teach General Biology in a community college in NC and I was just talking about “Caitlin” this week in our discussion of sex chromosomes. I told them that, no matter what his appearance, or even if he has full “gender reassignment” surgery, each somatic cell in his body will still contain an “X” and a “Y” chromosome, not two “Xs”. Cher's daughter is still genetically XX no matter what she looks like.

Great post.
I know there are some genetic anomalies, but they are statistically irrelevant. The simple fact of the matter is that each person either has a Y chromosome or they don't, there is nothing to be confused about. A man who wants to remove his penis is no more mentally stable than a man who wants to remove a healthy arm would be.
