Yes...Trump said it in a really nice way, too. Like a gentle hint. Then we get this from Cruz.
This is from the thread’s linked article.....
Mr. Cruz said Mr. Trump has boosted his candidacy and his chance of becoming the partys standard-bearer.
I think his involvement has been tremendously helpful to my campaign because it has framed the central question of the primary as: Who will stand up to Washington? Mr. Cruz said. And if thats the central question, the natural next question, that any voter will ask is okay, well who actually has stood up to Washington? Who has a record in that regard?
*******
Again, I disagree with Cruz’ statement and tactic. Trump is the one most recognized for fighting and “standing up to Washington”...that is getting the attention and traction we’ve so badly needed.
The MAJORITY of We the People see Trump as that fighter...polls and crowds prove that. This makes it look like Cruz is trying to grab on to Trump’s cape. Cruz would be polling much higher, if people saw him as the fighter.
Cruz may have stood up to Washington, and yet done it in a very “Washingtonish” way. In the end, he looks like the deep conservative flavor of conventional politician.
Trump is saying wait a literal New York minute here. There’s other styles in which to play this game.
