Sen. Ted Cruz said Thursday that he doesnt think that Donald Trump will capture the 2016 GOP presidential nomination and predicted that it is only a matter of time before most of the New York billionaires supporters will move into his camp. During an appearance on WABC-AM Radio, host Rita Cosby asked Mr. Cruz whether he would eventually move past Mr. Trump based on his conservative principles, and the Texas Republcian said I think thats right. In time, I dont believe Donald is going to be the nominee, and I think in time the lions share of his supporters end up with us, Mr. Cruz said. Mr. Trump has tangled with most of the candidates running for the Republican presidential nomination and has touted how some of his rivals have sunk in the polls after attacking him. But he has not traded barbs with Mr. Cruz, who has been Mr. Trumps biggest ally in the crowded GOP field. In the WABC-AM interview, Mr. Cruz continued to praise Mr. Trump, saying he liked and respected Donald. Mr. Cruz said Mr. Trump has boosted his candidacy and his chance of becoming the partys standard-bearer. I think his involvement has been tremendously helpful to my campaign because it has framed the central question of the primary as: Who will stand up to Washington? Mr. Cruz said. And if thats the central question, the natural next question, that any voter will ask is okay, well who actually has stood up to Washington? Who has a record in that regard? The Cruz campaign also announced Thursday that he will report raising $12.2 million over the last three months exceeding the hauls of fellow Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida, who plans to report $6 million, and Rand Paul of Kentucky, who raised $2.5 million.

It sounds like something Trump would say. :)
But I’m looking forward to Trump’s reaction, because he is nice to each person until that person says something bad about him. And Trump responds with overwhelming force.
Somehow, I don’t think Trump will respond the same way to Cruz.
We shall see.
“p.s. BlackFemaleArmyCaptain, I have been enjoying your posts and comments here on FR”
Thank you so much.

Sounds like Ted has gone all Glenn Beck on us. I know Ted’s dad and Beck are marching buddies, but this is going way off into la la land.
Cruz is overlooking the fact that EVERYTHING being brought to the forefront, on this election, is due to TRUMP....immigration, the wall, our vets, tax reform, etc.
Agreed. If you’ll look, you’ll see I posted a response saying that my first post may have been a little hasty.
These are two good men.
Whats Trump going to say? Cruz is wrong. I will be the nominee.

Maybe Cruz should have said...”At this point, I don’t know who the nominee will be. The race is fluid. It could be me...it could be Donald. I’m in it to win it, however.”
Why say Trump won’t be the nominee??? That’s not good.
Exactly!
This is insane.....why did Ted say this?
I would really like the context.
Guess what Ted.....I would NOT give my Trump vote to you.
Check the polls. Cruz has been stuck in single digits. He just is unable to connect with the voters. You either have “IT” or you don’t. Trump has it. Palin has it. Obama has it. Cruz doesn’t have it.
Cruz should worry more about Ben Carson that Trump IMO.
Im not at liberty to divulge all I know, but perhaps. yes
If you tell anyone what I told you, you will never get any more info from me.
So you are no conservative, that is your right. Ted Cruz will support your constitutional right to be wrong with more vigor than any other candidate in this race.
I really don’t think this will bode well for either Cruz or Trump if Trump responds with an attack on Cruz. They are better supporting each other until the end.
Cruz cannot think this will be helpful. Is it a last ditch effort???
Cruz is an excellent Constitutional attorney. A politician.
I’m done voting for attorneys and politicians, as they have gotten us where we are today, at this crossroads.
Cruz said he doesnt think Trump will be the nominee. That to me is betrayal. Trump has been great to Cruz, but I dont think hes going to like this little forecast. I dont like it.
********************************************************************************
Well, I’m willing to bet that Trump will have better judgement on this than you. Trump will certainly not perceive this as a “betrayal” by Cruz.
I don’t think I’m going to have to say (about Trump) “Lighten up, Frances.” But when it comes to a small percentage of his supporters, that quote may be applicable.
Can you imagine the incredible people Trump can access for government reconstruction.
It boggles the mind.
That’s a very good point, Mears.
The internals must be HORRIBLE for ALL politicians, right now.
I’ve also wondered why Mike Lee has been NO WHERE, lately.
Should he say, “I think Trump will be the nominee so everyone quit coming to my rallies, stop donating your time and money, and stop interviewing me.”? What hubris that he’d suggest he might win a primary he’s running in!
Don’t you dare judge my credentials!
Who are you to make such an insulting comment.
How true - not a peep from him in some time - good point!
