Rock bottom? Things could get worse for House GOP
Washington Examiner ^ | 10/8/15 7:02 PM | BYRON YORK

But Boehner's retirement announcement — like McCarthy, he sprung it on a surprised world — didn't resolve any of the conflicts inside the GOP conference. Many of that core 30-40 member group of the most assertive conservatives saw McCarthy as more of the same. And they realized, again, that if they voted as a bloc against leadership, McCarthy couldn't become speaker.

And why should he asked the conservative rebels, who like everyone else watched as public approval of GOP leaders went down and down.

"When 72 percent of Republican voters disapprove of the congressional leadership it's hard to simply promote the next in line," says one conservative member.

"We are in a representative business and it is unsustainable to have the people who do so much work to send Republicans to Congress harbor such dissatisfaction with the party's leaders."

But then there’s the information, on another thread, that House Conservatives were going to negotiate with McCarthy to give him the votes he needed.

It seems to me that there’s a lot more political maneuvering going on here than we have visibility into.

Yes they are, but you can also see it in their replies as well.

Plus, the idiots can’t spell..

The election next year is going to bring back a lot of members who drifted away after 2008....

Assuming they still have their login info..

‘on another thread, that House Conservatives were going to negotiate with McCarthy to give him the votes he needed.’

That would never happen.

In a relatively short period of time, the scalps of Boehner’s, his second in command, and that replacement as second, have all been taken.

Things are looking clearer to the GOPe that no more nonsense will be tolerated.

Correct, a lot of dirty folks looking for like minded souls to cling to and ride to safety..

But they cannot hide from their records, and they MUST be held accountable for all they have done

They did swear an oath, guess it was just a check box to them

Sic Semper Tyrannis!!

Yeah, I think I recall her on the Hunter threads..

It was that year that the forum blew up and there was a bit of a purge against the Romney supporters and some others...

Come to think of it...a bit of a purge might be a understatement.

I hate purges. Barely survived the Guiliani purge myself. I don’t post articles but have been reading and commenting for @15 years. All I said was that I grew up around NYC and thought Guiliani did an amazing job as mayor. Got blasted pretty good.
