A concealed-carry license holder is cooperating with police after she opened fire on a shoplifter who was fleeing a Home Depot on Tuesday afternoon, police in Auburn Hills, Mich., said.
The shooting happened in the stores parking lot about 2 p.m., when Home Depot security was chasing a shoplifter in his 40s who jumped into a waiting dark SUV, said Lt. Jill McDonnell, an Auburn Hills police spokeswoman.
But when the SUV began to pull away, a 48-year-old woman suddenly began firing shots at the fleeing vehicle. The vehicle escaped but possibly has a flat tire, McDonnell said.
The woman who fired the shots has a license to carry a firearm and is cooperating with police.

She acted stupidly, and is toast. She was not in fear of her life. If she can’t control herself better than that, she shouldn’t carry.
If there is any truth to this yarn, the woman won’t have a CPL or her own freedom for long.
Well, if she was stealing a non-energy saving device, that would just be wrong.
Unless the vehicle was aiming toward her, she might be toast. Prosecutorial discretion may save her, but in ND, the shooter would be in a pickle.
In general the standard is one of in danger of 'severe injury or death'.
Even the police would have trouble justifying shooting at a fleeing suspect in a property crime.
She should have just said, “It’s Comin’ Right For Us!”
ummmmm.....Dumb ain’t the word....let me think about it..
The vehicle escaped -
I am so glad the vehicle got away- any news on the fleeeing suspect?
Not a very bright idea for a private citizen to open up on a fleeing vehicle in a situation like this one.
It used to be we would applaud a person for being helpful in trying to stop a criminal - man, we have lost a whole lot more than just freedoms!
I agree. Look how well even conservatives have been retrained, right here on FR.
If Hitlary had a son...
i require a legal reason to use my weapon. you may want to play police officer. i do not.

Maybe at the movies or watching TV but a loose cannon like that woman should have her license revoked and placed on probation for a few years.
Burkas and PMS.
she is not a security guard nor a police officer. she could have done any number of other things than that.
Amazing isn’t it? Sheeple among us. Many steeple.
Want stats on civilian discharges vs govt discharges for related circumstances.
