GasBuddy.com says fuel prices could spike within a week anywhere from 10 to 30 cents a gallon, and they could stay higher for several weeks.
Its analysts are blaming aging refineries for unplanned repairs. When those happen, often the oil companies will tackle maintenance issues, too.

But gas is supposed to go up 20-30 cents/gallon in the next week.
Has little to do with age...
This period of time, early fall is the best time to schedule maintenance and turnarounds to make repairs, add systems, and to switch to other products for the winter..
It is what it is....as they say..and generally does not result in a major increase in price, but it can affect supply and that affects the price.
