The primary reason (for New York and New Jersey drivers paying the highest tolls) would be the concentration in the region of bridges and tunnels connecting the greater New York metro area, Uh, no. The primary reason is that both states have voracious spending habits that need to be supported by sucking money out of every single person who either lives in or goes through the state in any way possible, and hitting up drivers for expensive tolls a thousand times while they travel from Point A to Point B is one way to do that.

Like they’re still paying off those bridges. Funny thing is all of those people routinely vote for tax and toll increases. Good for them...at least they’re paying their fair share /s
