Oil 'pipelines hard-wire' countries as nothing else. They 'all' see Syria as pivotal for pipelines.... The Sunni/Shite religious conflict is being instigated 'to block' plans by Iran, Iraq and Syria to build a pipeline from the Mediterranean to the Persian Gulf natural gas field lying between Iran and Qatar......The Iran-Iraq-Syria gas pipeline is 'an economic threat' to Saudi Arabia and the Persian Gulf oil sheikdoms... who are 'the main financiers of the Syrian revolt'....... It would enable Iran to export oil even if the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf were closed.

Here's another showing the Proposed "Nabucca Pipeline"...which brings Turkey into the fray...

I can see that should Israel push to export her oil and gas....which are huge reserves.....this would be enough to rile the ME nations...and.... tap Russia as well to go for the gold....
