Guns are, in a word, perfect.
Guns are unparalleled, really; they are small masterpieces of precision engineering, one of humanity’s most deliberate, perfectly designed tools. There is simply no denying a gun’s intention, no possible misunderstanding of its reason for existing.
Unlike cars, knives, drugs, alcohol or any other freely available, potentially deadly items which can (and do) kill lots of people, guns are the only commercially available instrument in the world that we designed specifically for the purpose of the eradication of life. A gun’s nature is, as they say in the tech world, baked in to the hardware. It understands nothing else.

Unfortunately, many do.
In most conservative circles, even if people don't own guns and even if they've never fired a weapon, they know people personally who do — often lots of people who do. If you know people who are decent and responsible, and if you know they own guns, you're less likely to object to gun ownership even if you don't choose to own one.
That's not the case for people in parts of America where guns are severely regulated or in social circles where they are stigmatized.
“Jim, people are often afraid of what they do not understand. Why would you object to something you've never used and never even taken the time to learn about?”
I've found that phrase helpful in dealing with liberals because it is a sentence out of their playbook on other issues which have nothing to do with guns.
Here's another one.
“Julie, have you ever considered that one of the best protections for a woman against a physically superior man is a small handgun? Training doesn't care about gender, and it can be a great equalizer between a well-trained woman and the brute strength of a male aggressor.”
You can't have a reasonable discussion with a democrat/liberal/socialist/Marxist.

It it is just 1 or 2 a knife will do. Or a 2 ft section of fence post, baseball bat, hammer. In the case of a 8 year old little girl, all you have to do is beat her, rape her, strangle her nearly to death, then wrap her body in a blanket and thrown it in the river for her to finish drowning. Perp has maxed out all his Appeals, still sits on TN death row because our DAMN RINO gov halsam won’t sing the death warrant, going on 21 yrs now. No justice no peace. Then you don’t get much peace any way, because the memories don’t let you have it.
