Cruz Second Choice in Native Texas
Truth Revolt ^ | 10/2/15 | Brian Lilley

Posted on 10/02/2015 6:21:34 AM PDT by markomalley

Ted Cruz is in second place in the hearts of Texas Republican voters right now, behind Donald Trump. But there is a silver lining for the Texas senator, reports San Antonio Express News:

Donald Trump leads the Republican field in Texas, but U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz is close behind and is the second choice for more than a third of the mogul's supporters, according to a new poll.

Cruz has been reluctant to criticize Trump and has often played up their policy similarities leading many to speculate that Cruz is aligning himself with Trump backers to sweep up as many as he can if the real estate mogul drops out of the race.

The poll of Texas voters, conducted by Texas Lyceum, also found Hillary Clinton leading the Democratic field but losing against Trump, Cruz and even Jeb Bush in any hypothetical presidential election match-up.

Thanks but I’ll take my advice from people with principles.

Collegiality is important in the Senate and they will let you know for sure.

Cruz is doing exactly what I sent him there to do.

I am 100% satisfied with the job he is doing in the Senate.

It may not be realistic to hope that Cruz wins, but that is still my hope.

"That might be a pipe dream. Cruz is a wonderful man, but not ready for the top spot. He will make a great VP though."

Nonsense. Of course Cruz is ready.

And much, much more so than some liberal thin-skinned reality-show celebrity.

“...if the real estate mogul drops out of the race.”

Hmmm, not so subtle change from the media’s and GOPe’s language from the past few months. Used to be “when”.

I don’t want a mush mouth-—I want a direct, plain-spoken fighter, and a aolid Constitutional conservative. That’s why I support Cruz.

The opposite extreme of a mush-mouth is a loud, flailing, insult-throwing child; that’s what you’ve put your support behind.

With the world burning down, that’s the last thing we need. Never confuse loud bombast with effectiveness.

"I know this wont go over well with FR Cruz fans, but I have some real problems with him. He attempts to come across as the champion of the middle class, but I see him as nothing more than the champion of Ted Cruz. "

LOL, such rich, delicious irony.

Its ridiculous to believe Cruz would accept a VP slot from Captain Clownhair anyway. Despite the fact that Cruz doesn’t attack him or anyone else in the race, they’re still widely opposed on too many issues.

Donnie supports normalization with Cuba, Cruz doesn’t. Donnie supports keeping the Iran deal, Cruz doesn’t. Donnie Supports the renewable fuel standards and ethanol subsidies, Cruz doesn’t. Donnie supports some version of Obamacare, Cruz doesn’t. There are many many more.

It is kind of interesting that many of his supporters are dropping their claim that Donnie is some kind of conservative and are going with the old “electability” standby which fails every time its tried.

who was it? Rubio? that said Cruz has no friends in the Senate..

I don’t doubt it. he is rocking the boat, forcing the rino’s to show their liberal colors..

I hope TX keeps sending him back if we can’t send him to the white house.

And not one of these da** things you mentioned will matter if our country is overrun with illegals. Ethanol standards are way down on my bucket list. You don’t have a clue about his healthcare either - he has repeatedly said private - what part of private don’t you understand? What some of you don’t understand is that these doors have been opened - with Cuba and the Iran deal. By the time the election rolls around - it will have to be cleaned up - too much water will have flowed under that bridge by that time. But, hey, you can live with your delusions if you want. I’m not going to try and destroy your fantasies.

********

Cruz is correct not to participate in a candidate circular firing squad. His steady, here’s-what-I-would-do approach may well prevail.

Some of these people are so in love with Trump they can’t imagine anyone else not being smitten with him. They seem to imagine Cruz got into the race and is working his butt off so he can be Trump’s lapdog.

Cruz is in this to win. And you’re absolutely right-—solid conservative that he is, he would never hitch his wagon to a liberal.

What happened to short-term memory, anyway? It’s been only three years since the last “electable” candidate in a long string of “electables” lost.

“Captain Clownhair”....LOL

I dont want Cruz in the worthless VP slot.

We are better off with him in the Senate than that.

After his pro-Obama, pro-Iran, anti Israel Corker vote he's not worthy of any public office.

Aside from that the VP is the President of the Senate and can be the tie breaker vote when needed.

IOW, even if "the mogul" (as if that's a bad thing) drops out, he can't even win his own state.

I'd rather be tagged a mogul than a lawyer...but that's just me.

Just like clockwork, the liberal troll shows up, hissing like a vampire about Ted Cruz.
