CALLER:...Out of all the conservative candidates that we have, which do you think -- and I'm deliberately choosing my words this way. Which do you think is the most hostile and intolerant toward liberalism?
RUSH: Well, can I rephrase that? Because those words "hostile" and "intolerant" do not describe the person that I would answer that question about. I know what you mean. You really want to know who among other candidates is most anti-liberal, is the most opposed to liberalism as part of his existence, policy and everything else? And there's one clear answer. Put your hand up if you know who it is. Ted Cruz. Ted Cruz is the answer to your question, Roberto. If you're looking for the Republican candidate who is the most steadfastly opposed to liberalism, whose agenda is oriented toward stopping it and thwarting it and defeating it, it is Ted Cruz.
If that's your criteria.
Now, if you want to ask, "Does that make him the most conservative?" That's another question. To a lot of people, that alone would make him the most conservative candidate of the bunch, too. The two probably do go together. But it doesn't mean he's the only one. There are some other candidates who are also anti-liberal in our field, both generally and issue to issue. But blanket, overall, I mean, an honest answer to your question would be Ted Cruz, pure and simple. Very clever of you, Roberto. I understand what you're doing out there, buddy. It's a very, very clever maneuver. You are a brilliant, brilliant caller out there. I know exactly what your game is, and I went ahead and played anyway. I answered your question right up front, top to bottom.
Cruz couldn’t win in most scenarios! I love the guy! He’d be a dream president. But he is half-palinized. He needs something extraordinary to get him into the WH in today’s America / media.
Which is why I’m voting for Trump, whom I hope will choose Cruz as Veep. That will get us, eventually, President Cruz.
Unfortunately, that alone will not get you the Presidency.
*************
Rush wasn’t talking about who would win. Rush merely said:
“If you’re looking for the Republican candidate who is the most steadfastly opposed to liberalism, whose agenda is oriented toward stopping it and thwarting it and defeating it, it is Ted Cruz.”
If you wish to support a candidate who is not the most “oriented toward stopping it and thwarting it and defeating liberalism”— well, that’s your choice.
“The media like him enough to keep him in the forefront, eclipsing others in print and airtime, which keeps the pep-rally going. “
I would observe he has been in a firestorm of media for 3 months...
He has flourished and used its momentum to suck the oxygen out of the room so effectively, that few other candidates get airtime.
It sounds like it will not even get your support. Without the support of conservatives, a true conservative stands little chance at wining.
I didn’t ask who you were voting for.
“He then voted for the agreement, in order to enforce it against Obama. He knew Obama would renege on the agreement, and when Obama did renege, Cruz sought to enforce it. Obama was, and is, in violation of the agreement and federal law.”
“He then voted for the agreement, in order to enforce it against Obama.”
Obama pushed for the bill; he helped guide it through passage. Obama worked with his good buddy Corker to get it done. You really believe that Obama would support a bill that could be used against him?
“...in order to enforce it against Obama:’
Cruz has a good track record of bending the Republican Senate to his will?
“Cruz was given lemons by the GOP-e, and made lemonade.”
Obama and Iran got EVERYTHING they wanted, plus the lemonade.
“Now, he has Obama dead to rights.”
Are you serious?
“You cant blame Ted Cruz if McConnell and the GOP-e refuse to enforce the law.”
True, but with McConnell’s track record, and Obama’s track record, it would take an idiot to think he could single-handedly force them to conform to his will.
Cruz is not an idiot, which is why I can’t trust him. What you just repeated are just suggestions for the suggestible.
No, people who plan to vote for Trump over Cruz are just flat out cowards and straight up ignorant.
Reading Donald Trump’s positions, he seems to be for everything so he can be for “your” side at one place, then switch at the other:
(1) “Let’s have competition in healthcare and make it the best healthcare free market ever vrs we gotta take care of women and children and I will do this whether it’s a Republican thing to say or not.”
What is it? Single payer or free market or both?
(2) “All illegals need to leave, but then we’ll let the most productive ones immediately back in, back that won’t be related to H-1B Visas, but the more productive, the meriier.”
What is it? Anti-Amnesty, Pro-Guest Workers or both?
(3) “Tax those businesses taking those jobs overseas and make it unprofitable for them, but then offer a 1 time 10% repatriation tax to bring money back into the states.”
What is it? Punish overseas companies with high tarrifs or give them a tax break?
The list of contradictory positions could go on and on. But it’s easy for a guy like Trump to pull this off on the fly when he’s not really embedded in the issues at the core.
I want to vote for a conservative, not a guy that’s hired a bunch of consultants that’s trained him on how to rile up the conservative base but lacks the core beliefs of the base.
Cool, I hope you get a chance for a meaningful vote.
I'm not supporting anyone yet.
Not a single primary candidate I ever supported has ever been a possible winner by the time the primary came to PA.
And frankly, I don't see Cruz leading. I like him, like what he believes and think he's very intelligent. That is all different than inspiring people to follow you. It is early. Maybe it will develop as time goes on for him.
“Cool, I hope you get a chance for a meaningful vote.”
Thanks, but unless I move to a red state, I don’t think it’s happening.
That, however, does not mean he will necessarily be aligned with Conservative goals once elected.
“No, people who plan to vote for Trump over Cruz are just flat out cowards and straight up ignorant.”
Thanks for sharing. I see it differently.
You don’t get away with that- answer the question— is Obama in violation of the Iran Agreement. Yes or no?
Please add me to the Cruz PING list. Thank you for taking it over .
Yup. No sense in wrestlin' with the pigs... You get dirty, and the pig likes it.
“Rush emphatically affirms that Ted Cruz is the candidate most opposed to liberalism” ping ...
“That, however, does not mean he will necessarily be aligned with Conservative goals once elected. “
Who has been?
They all go lame when they get in office. It is a matter of time.
Even Reagan failed to restrain the growth of government, legalized illegal aliens, etc.
People make the mistake of assuming that shouting someone into silence makes them disappear.
It doesn’t, it just means they won’t hear them coming.
The Cruz campaign should pay you for your graphics, my friend.
