Texas wasn't the only state that spent the Obama stimulus money in lieu of state appropriations. Most states did that.

We have talked a lot about how the meltdown affected the federal govt with plunging tax revenue, but it affected state govts worse because states also depend on tax revenue but have to balance their budgets

well, wherever our money went it sure didn’t go where Obama promised

and we got (depending where you are) zero ‘shovel ready jobs’ from it

all lies.

When Bush handed out his stimulus, you had to ask for it on your tax return. I won't say why, but I felt it would be better if I didn't do that, so I didn't.

When Obama handed out his stimulus, he didn't ask, he direct deposited into my checking account. But I didn't spend any of it, I saved it, defeating the purpose of stimulating the economy.
