A billion dollars will be spent by major political campaigns online this cycle. The technology is... well, it's quite amazing what campaigns could do online if they were creative enough, but they remain somewhat captive to the safer instincts of conventional strategists.
When Donald Trump's campaign started to look more professional and less like an extension of his quest to stay relevant, I and others noticed that his social media presence was remarkable in one very tangible way: When his Twitter account uploaded a new tweet to the world, it was quite clear that his fingers had punched it out. The filter between Trump's brain and the thoughts he shared was tissue-thin.
I dare say that virtually none of the other candidates actually tweeted at the time. Tweets had to be run by someone, or many people, first. Not Trump's, for better or for worse. Turns out, mostly, for the better.
I wondered whether Trump would co-opt other social media, too. A new study by the folks at EPIServer, a digital content and marketing company, suggests that Trump has turned out to be proficient across the omnichannel more so than any other campaign. The company cites his "[h]ighly effective use of Twitter and Facebook; most tweets, second most followers and page likes of any candidate; noteworthy tweets clearly visible on website." Though Trump's website is comparatively barren, that's fine. No one supports Trump because of his website. He's adapted the social media formats that are best for him. EPIServer gave him its highest Digital Campaign Score a 75.

Bottom line: No one should get a free ride off the Fedgov (tax-payers) for essential services. It is contrary to our Founders' thinking. If you disagree with the last, do some study on the Federalist and anti-Federalist papers, publications, letters, diaries, Continental Congress debates of the greatest men this rock has ever produced.Someone needs to do some studying alright. No one paid income tax then. It didn't exist.
There will still be FICA (7.65% of the gross + 7.65% ON the gross), self-employment tax (15% OF the gross up to a cap of 90.000?), capitol gains etc.
Too many people, maybe you included, don't have a clue about taxes.
I don't get down on my knees for anyone or any ideology or theology. In fact, at 65 at a recent Foreigner/Kid Rock concert I had to jump up and slam some touchy feely shit into the back wall. He had grabbed my wife's ass unbeknownst to me until the break, then inappropriately massaged my left arm when back in our seats. Told him to go away and let us watch the concert rather than confronting him about the ass grab.
Less than 5 minutes later he was massaging my right shoulder. Jumped up turned around (our seats backed up against the walkway) did the shove and was climbing over the seats to throttle him. The punk ran. I don't kneel or take shit from anyone.
So, I certainly won't back down when supporting a true Constitutional conservative such as Ted Cruz on an open forum from some anonymous poster. I'll try to be polite as long as I get the same.
Trump is a past liberal (see his record) now wannabe conservative spoiler that's sucking so many conservatives in with his un-PC talk that we've all wanted to hear for sometime. I believe he is an empty suit. If I turn out to wrong, I will admit so to the Trumpettes.
Looks lets be honest I love Ted Cruz but he was not polling well before Trump even got in it. If it was not for Trump Jeb Bush would be way in the lead and Cruz would still not be polling that well.
Ted Cruz is an extremely smart and extremely ambitious guy. He knows he’s not likely to get the nomination so he semi hitched his wagon to Trump’s star and no matter what happens Ted will land up in a really good spot.
“Yes, I can trash him for being a goofy guy”
A goofy guy worth $10 billion and you are worth about how much? How goofy are you? :-)
Yes, unfortunately, that is the reality of politics...from the city councilman all the way to White House. And yes, Trump is more frank, but he's still an inarticulate blowhard. However, like I said above, if he gets the Oval Office, hopefully we will surround himself with patriots who can return our country to its former greatness. Not holding my breath.
My mistake. I meant tariffs on goods to England.
I probably know more about income, corporate, death, sales taxes than most people have forgotton. I've owned and operated 3 companies. I can read a balance sheet and profit&loss statement like the back of my toe. Oops, another error. Best.
Good points...no arguement.
Much less goofy. But then, I did retire in 1997. So no, not in same class of goofiness, although I have been known to be a dork at times.
Look lets be real. How upset would you be if Trump was President and kicking over the table and Cruz was dealing our the new cards? IMO its all good. :-)
Look lets be real. How upset would you be if Trump was President and kicking over the table and Cruz was dealing out the new cards? IMO its all good. :-)
I would have no problem with Trump giving Putin, Roudini?, and Kim Jung Un crap, as long as he puts the right people in place to forward his now supposedly conservative agenda. Yes, I'll vote for him if he is the Republican nominee. Still think he's a blowhard...and can't forget his liberal background. But, better him than Hellary.
Our little Chiquaqua is better than Hellery. "Lola, do you want to abolish these agencies?...bark once for no. What was that? A gurgle? Okay, will count that as a no. Thank you for your LIV participation. Want a treat?"
Will be interesting if he gets the Repub nomination and who he chooses as a running mate. I highly doubt Cruz, but then I don't read minds. Could be Carson if he continues to poll so well.
Of course not, it's all about the "cult of personality" that Trump has sewed up. No one gives a crap about Constitutional messages because it is boring, especially when the messenger has no Social Media presence or other.
It will be Cruz. You can count on it
Their private meetings go way back and Trump respects Cruz.
Bump!
Well whose fault is that?
These other candidates had every opportunity to move into the 21st Century in campaigning.
For the last 30 plus years campaigning has become a year around big business with pollsters and political consultants collecting untold riches. The thing is it all became predictable and boring. Everything was the same ritualistic mating call or dance and all the candidates followed the same advice and boring tactics.
Enter Donald Trump, he is very media savvy, he has had a hit TV show on for 12 years, he understands the media and how to use it. To top it all off he is 69 years old and leaves all of these people in the Dust.
So you have Ted Crux, and the others who could not find a way to compete with Trump and to compound things kept listening to the same idiotic consultants and pollsters and they ended up all looking dull and boring. Ted Cruz and the others have no one to blame but themselves.
If Trump wasn’t in the game, Cruz would be doing only a bit better than now; instead the GOPe would have been completely in control and their pre-planned strategy to get Yeb nominated would have worked, just like it did for McStain and Romney.
Conservatives should get down on our knees and thank the good lord for Donald Trump. Does anyone seriously believe we would even be talking about illegal immigration if Trump wasn’t forcing the Pubs out of their comfort zone of dodging all issues of importance, lying to the voters to get elected, and then stabbing us in the back?
No, what would have happened is El Jebbo would have gotten the nomination because the kommie media would laud him for his wonderfulness in promoting “diversity”, the beauties of multi-lingualness, and his trashing U.S. history and culture, instead promoting a 3rd world culture that pretty much has given the world little more than cocoa and tacos.
And then of course, the kommie media would turn on El Jebbo, trashing him as an “extremist” fascist like they did McCain and Romney, and Hillary would win in a landslide as legions of disgusted Pubs finally refused to play the BS “lesser of two evils” game.
You have noticed that Cruz and Trump are not attacking each other? At least with Trump, Cruz will have a good shot on making it on the ticket, put in charge of a major cabinet or appointed to the Supreme Court. And if Cruz does make it onto a winning ticket as VP, he’ll be in a MUCH better position to actually win the Presidency some day. After all, Cruz is quite a young guy.
“Anyone believing himself able or deserving to run USA requires huge ego. As on every other subject, Trump is merely more frank about it than the rest. “
That’s EXACTLY right. Anyone who doesn’t think Hillary actually has a MUCH bigger ego than Trump isn’t paying attention. And that’s pretty much true of the rest of them. The only difference is that the rest of them all just stand in front of the mirror hours every day practicing like they’re just, aw shucks, ordinary folks, you know, like you and me.
Trump just doesn’t hide it. In fact, he glorifies in being Trump. And quite frankly I find Trump refreshing for not being such a sanctimonious hypocrite like most of the rest of them.
I rather enjoy it, actually. To me, it means Trump has the self-confidence to do what HE thinks is the right thing to do without having to stick his finger in the air to feel the pulse of the NYT, WaPo, CBS, ABC or NBC before he acts.
You know, pretty much like Obama behaves now, only Trump is fundamentally on our side in wanting to reverse the U.S.A destroying Obammunist agenda that’s be put in place during the last seven years
