While we’re on the subject, I’m not real fond of the Forest Service either.
The "friendly forest rangers" ain't all that friendly anymore.
The US Forest Service is spending a lot of money and manpower to shut down roads in Arizona. Fossil Canyon/Fossil Creek in north-central AZ is a fantastic place to visit but the Forest Service has closed the road from Payson due to “falling” rocks and severely limits the number of people who are allowed to park at the trailhead near Payson to 32 cars. When I tried to get to the trailhead they had at least 6 people working at one time to turn Americans away from their land. On west side ofFossil Canyon/Fossil Creek from Camp Verde they pay 4 to 6 Forest Service employees to shut the road down at 5:00 AM and guard the gate after only letting in about 40 cars. The fascist told me that they have to protect the canyon and that they cannot afford to build the toilets and parking lots to accommodate Americans.
When I do the math I find that paying at least 16 employees (2 shifts a day * 8) to do nothing but piss off Americans is money wasted that could easily fund the improvements. I guesstimate that the FS is probably pissing away at least 1.1 million (70k per employee per year * 16) to keep US out.
I will see the day when those MF’ers are gone.
