Thanks for posting. I’m listening now. The problem is he’s keeping this notion alive that the GOP is surrendering. They’re not. They like what’s happening. I’m sure he doesn’t believe that, so why keep it alive?
Bigger issue is that he’s keeping alive the notion that there is something approximating opposition to the status quo in Washington.
There isn’t. There are a few token opponents in the senate. None of whom are consistent. And you can count all of them on one hand. In the House there are 10-20 backbenchers who are recognizably conservative.
That’s your opposition. see tagline.
Good point.
They aren’t just giving up, they are going along and putting up fake resistance so they can keep their money and little bit of power and job in Washington. Just lie to the rubes back home and enjoy your cash and hookers in D.C.
Cruz is giving too much of the benefit of the doubt to his colleagues. They aren’t wimps; they are Quislings.
I think it is possible Cruz believes it. Remember, he really wanted to believe Mitch was telling the truth. I think he desperately wants to see the good in the people he works with and wants to believe these people have a conscience that still feels an occasional twinge of something.
Cruz isn't at a point where he wants to destroy the party and rebuild it from the ground up. If a majority of Republican voters are convinced that the GOPe wants to push through the Demonrat socialist agenda, then both houses of Congress will flip...and the GOP in state and local elections will lose in a bloodbath.
Cruz is framing it as a few DC bad apples surrendering that haven't spoiled the entire barrel.
