Much of it was how Republican leadership caves under the threat of an obama veto which would “shut down the government”. Every Single Time!
At the end it was great - Cruz is a master. (1 hour long - no notes!) Anyway at the end, and I’m guessing he had it planned this way. At the end of the speech he is talking about how the elected Republicans don’t do what they are elected to do, and says “no wonder the American people don’t understand why leadership isn’t listening to them.” Right as he ends that sentence the leader taps his gavel and says his time is up.
Cruz asks for an extension of his speaking time.
He doesn’t get it.
Then he concludes - with a sad voice, something like: “The Democrats here refuse to listen to me any longer - just like the Democratic and Republican leadership refuses to listen to the American people.” [dramatic pause....] “I yield the floor.”
Guess we all knew why this ship was sinking so fast.
