Army Veteran Robbed, Shot and Paralyzed as Violent Crime Spirals Out of Control in St. Louis
Around 10:30 p.m., Chris Sanna and his girlfriend were walking to their vehicle near Walnut Street and Memorial Drive when a black sedan pulled up to them. Two male suspects were inside the black sedan. The driver of the sedan exited the vehicle and demanded the victims property at gunpoint.
After she gave him her purse, he pulled a gun, Candis said. Thats when they turned to run, and he shot at them twice.

Article is kind of vague. States he wanted to take his mother, but then says he was with his girlfriend when shot. Nonetheless a sad reflection of what our culture has descended to.
Can I ask a stupid question?
Are we “prejudiced” against young black men, if experience shows that young black men are the perpetrators of disproportionate amounts of crime??
Rather than prejudicial judgement, wouldn’t it be simply observation and review of actual facts, which lead us to be suspicious of young black men, not a prejudice????
Yes it was 2 black guys.
That would be too logical. We are not suppose to examine statistics and other relevant factors and draw common sense conclusions. However, I do.
I grew up Los Angeles. Have been robbed with a knife twice, once at gunpoint, and carjacking once. Never by a white guy.
Isn’t St Louis where they threw snowballs at Santa Claus. /S
Sometimes I think that we would have far less of these crimes, if, most people had guns on them, and were trained in how to use them.
The criminal element scare us all with guns, because they know we are unarmed. What if they weren’t so sure about that, and what if these gang banger types were fearful the next person they hold up has a gun and training in how to use it????
What does Obama think? More midnight basketball??
I thought it was Philadelphia where they booed Santa Claus and threw snowballs?? Maybe both cities??
The criminals lurk around the stadium because CCW license holders can’t bring a weapon to the ball game. The thugs know they are safe. It’s the same for the Metro link trains and buses.
The media wants to avoid the subject, if race is not mentioned in a story, or is hidden at the end of the report, you can bet that the suspect is black. They are afraid of facts. The two Missouri cities are tough on veterans and soldiers. This assault was preceded by six black thugs in Kansas City who practically beat an active duty Captain to death after accidentally bumping into one of these guys in a restaurant. Soldiers must be racist.
In my limited experience of 60yrs,
I have had guns pulled on me,
knives, pulled on me,
and chased by muggers,
ONLY by a combination of three parameters:
1: Males
2: Aged 16-25
3: Black
If all three of those conditions are present,
I am growing eyes out of the back of my head
I simply do my absolute, level best to stay away from places where persons meeting those three criteria congregate or may congregate.
Notice how they give the color of the sedan, but not of the perps.

Sometimes you are talking about entire cities.

Perhaps another beer summit will work. Or maybe a CVS ad with the fists pumping in the air. If you haven’t seen that commercial, it’s a riot. No, really. A riot.
Police presence is always pretty high around Busch Stadium. (The city government is fully aware of how much money the games bring in). However, if you park a bit of a distance away, it’s not so much. Because of state law, anyone attending a game is unarmedno guns allowed in the stadiums in Missouri. I’m sure the criminals know thisand combined the the breathtaking prices of anything inside of the stadium, they know that potential victims have (or at least had) decent sums of money on them.
The sketchy part of St. Louis starts only yards from the Edward Jones Dome (Rams) and only a few blocks from Busch.
prejudice: an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason.
An assumption that a particular person is bad, without evidence, is prejudice.
A decision to be wary of people with certain characteristics that are correlated with risk of crime, is common sense.
There is a fine line. And prejudice based on statistical correlation is not necessarily bad.
I live in the St.Louis area and like many ppl from outside the city we no longer go into the city for nothing, not even ballgames. Chances of either getting robbed or more likely having your car broke into or just too high.
There is a variety of good/fun things to do in the city, but it’s just too risky. In all of this you rarely hear any solutions coming from the mayor or alderman, they dump everything on the the police.
The local CBS station was the worse anti-police and a real vocal supporter of the rioters, looters and troublemakers in Ferguson. But since the killing and assaults are escalating, all of a sudden the same station is proud to be a leader in the EndTheViolence campaign. Gimme a breaK
