I’m afraid the truth is that the GOPe has reams of polling data showing that the base is supporting Trump because they’ve had it up to their eyeballs with Boehner and McConnell.

So utilizing the level of logic one would expect from a third-grade C student, they are forcing Boehner out, thinking that by handing us his head we will calm down and let them get on with their plan to nominate a RINO. The thought of Trump being their nominee has been compelling them to change their underwear every hour on the half-hour.

So in some tangential way Trump does deserve a lot of the credit.

I hope that is not true. We need a real conservative and a fighter. Jim Jordan, the former wrestling champion, fills the bill.

Jordan has been a critic of Speaker John Boehner's plan to raise the debt ceiling. In 2010, he was chair of the Republican Study Committee, and during the U.S. government shutdown of 2013, he was still considered its most powerful member. That group was the primary proponent and executor of the Republican Congressional strategy to force a government shutdown, in order to force changes in the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.

Jordan was a two-time NCAA Division I wrestling champion. In the 1985 NCAA championship match, Jordan defeated future two-time Olympic gold medalist and four-time world champion John Smith.

Why would Trump want to bring up this great conservative defeat of replacing an old RINO with a young RINO? This change is as good for conservatives as when Obama appointed Kagan and Sotomayor to the Supreme Court.

I hope you’re right, but consider this from the fox story this morning:

“Boehner’s decision removes the possibility of a damaging vote to strip him of his speakership, a scenario that grew more likely amid the conservative clamor over a shutdown. “

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/09/25/boehner-to-resign/?intcmp=hpbt1

If he really wants to resign, why not now? Plenty of time to “change his mind” by the end of October - a month after the new gov’t fiscal year is set to begin.

So when there’s no gov’t shutdown, he’ll again be “a hero”.

I have no reason to believe something boner says, even if it’s someone I agree with.

McCarthy is not a lock to replace Boehner. Once Boehner is gone, it will be a bar fight to replace him. The GOP caucus is very divided.

He’s resigning and leasing himself out as a professional mourner.

Seriously, anyway you look at this and it’s a victory.

“This is a tactical move by the GOPe. Throw us some red meat in the hopes that we’ll calm down and acquiesce to their anointing another RINO as our nominee.”

What lobbying firm is he going to? My bet is someone with ties to Iran.

You need to parse what he says. Gowdy says he wants to expedite the process for deporting criminal aliens. There are an estimated 2 million of them. But there are 12 to 30 million illegal aliens total. How will he handle them?

Gowdy wants to defund Obama's executive amnesty. Of course there have been two executive amnesties, the current one and the one in 2012, the so-called Dreamer amnesty. Where was Gowdy's bill in 2012? Defunding Obama's executive amnesty will not result in deportations. And it will be up to Congress to provide its own solution.

Gowdy has indicated support for a Dreamer amnesty. NumbersUSA gives him a B this year and overall A- for his career. Gowdy voted to grant the President authority to expand immigration levels without Congress' consent via Trade Promotion Authority in 2015. IMO he is heavily influenced by the Chamber of Commerce.

It could be true. But without consciously trying to rain on anybody’s parade I am quite comfortable making this prediction. Not much would really change with a Donald Trump presidency. A government and a culture that shows little consideration for the ways of God is guaranteed to decline. Donald Trump is not going to change that. I am not sure if anyone running is. But I know Trump will not.

Trump said great things would happen if we supported him and he wouldn’t need to explain why.

Seems like his prediction has come true already.

It’s possible Boehner saw in the tea leaves that he was likely to get Cantored if he didn’t resign first.

The articles make it sound like McCarthy’s a lock with all the “conservatives” united behind him.

Boehner wouldn’t have resigned if there was ANY chance he’d be replaced with a conservative. He and his donor class backers knew McCarthy had the votes. This is akin to Ruth Bader Ginsberg resigning during Hillary Clinton’s term.

Now first of all, I wouldn’t count those
chickens. I live in John Boehner’s district. He had two primary challengers and crushed them both
I actually put more stock right now in this being an establishment trick or stall tactic than not. That is how devious they are. But again this hero worship of Donald Trump is very dismaying to me. People are putting him on as high of a pedestal as they did Barack Obama. It too will end badly for such people as he too is a deeply flawed man. But we keep thinking such men are going to be mini saviors for us. It won’t happen.

The article was written on September 15. I suspect it was a plant.

Boehner is getting out because it would have been a bitter struggle to remain. The GOP voters are fed up with their Congressional leadership. The RNC and other party elders gave Boehner the word that he was a political liability. No doubt the rise of Trump and other outsiders is weighing heavily on their minds. The natives are restless and want some scalps.
