Russian marine brigade 810 is fighting with Hezbollah and Syrian Army personnel in an attempt to retake the Kweires Military Airbase east of Aleppo. This base is apparently manned by ISIS Chechens. This is the first step in retaking the city of and area around Aleppo.
The interesting question is why did Russia bring in SA-300s, MiG 31s and Su-30SMs - all purposed to fight an air battle - against whom?
And with the addition of Chinese naval and air assets - what is going on?
Then the Israelis have a huge gas field just off their coast ...
