The emergency meeting that led Walker to quit
Politico ^ | 09/22/15, | Shane Goldmacher and Alex Isenstadt

It’s almost always bad news when a candidate’s spouse calls an emergency meeting.

But that’s what happened late last week when Scott Walker’s wife, Tonette, and his campaign chairman, Mike Grebe, reached out to a small number of longtime Walker aides and summoned them to the governor’s mansion on Monday morning.

This is from Politico which is part of the Washington establishment and despises conservatives. The article has lots of information from political consultants and insiders. The main problem with the article is the false narrative that it was Walker's performances in the 2 debates that did him in. That is typical consultant spin. It was all Walker's fault. The consultants supposedly performed flawlessly.

Walker's inexperience and willingness to be micromanaged by the political consultants appears to be the problem.

He started out well and was leading the field. But in the end Walker simply had nothing to say.

From the article:

“The perception of Scott Walker was that he was this candidate who stood on principle and took the slings and arrows to prove it,” said Craig Robinson, a former political director for the Iowa Republican Party. “Yet his campaign was one of a candidate who was constantly capitulating on issues. Those things undermined his campaign.”

But in the end Walker simply had nothing to say.

I understand the wife and kids are lefties, and I suspect he had that audience constantly in mind.

Walker himself stated clearly why he dropped out. The GOPe has decided they must winnow the field in order to circle the wagons around a RINO to take on Trump.

Because he is GOPe and that is their calling card.

I liked Walker and I’m sorry that he’s leaving the campaign. I think had he been elected POTUS, he would have reduced spending, lowered taxes, and reined in public unions, much as he did in WI.

That all said, the field is much too big and should be narrowed down. I would like to see a lot less hot hair, insults, gotcha politics, and name calling. I would like to see a lot more policy proposals on the table and RR’s 11th Commandment observed. Save ammo for the Dems.

Time for him to hop back on his moterbike and head back to Wisconsin. I liked Walker and what he did to the unions and his efforts to reform his state. However, politics ain’t beanbag and Walker found out the hard way. It’s a combination of things that propels a national candidate to victory. Sadly, it isn’t just about your political record.

Ultimately it’s about $$. That is why, as I tried to explain to some “polls don’t matter” types earlier this year, the matter very much. Polls keep the $$ flowing the exception is Trump, who, ironically after leading in 150/155 polls, doesn’t need them.

While recognizing it is Politico and all that means, that’s still one brutal article, even if you discount it by half.

I’m trying to see who that would be because there aren’t enough aggregate percentage points among the GOPe stooges if they all went to Boosh to put him in front. There are other polls that have Trump in the low to mid 30’s. If they are right, Boosh needs to leave now, because he “hasn’t caught on!”

Bush has one hope left.
It’s that nobody else enters the Dem race.

The clock is ticking but I think we’ll see SlowJoe, Fauxcahontas, or somebody from the Mob.

I expected him to campaign like he governed Wisconsin — with a firm hand and clear direction and purpose.

Instead, he decided to stick his finger up in the air and see which way the wind was blowing.

Bad mistake, in this election cycle.

I hope he can go back to WI and continue to govern as he did in the past. I bet this campaign took a toll on him, his finances, and his family. Prayers for his strength and well-being.

Those aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive. :-)

Leaving an opening for Bush to rescue the Democrat Party.

Agree, should have added “else” after “somebody”.

As a resident of Wisconsin I think he is an excellent governor from a mostly blue state. Like many others I feel immigration/amnesty is the biggest threat to our Country. He was weak on that issue going into the campaign and remained that way.

I’m gonna be really surprised if SlowJoe, Fauxcahontas, or somebody else from Team Chicago doesn’t jump in. Hillary is so weak I’m sure they can take her out and have Baraq’s 3rd term.

“The donors are angry. They want improvements,”

Ok, that’s what we are dealing with

People are either contributing to a candidate who they think is the best to get in and take care of the constitution and going back to their normal lives, their own business, or they are investing in and controlling a performer

That performer is not going to be working for his voters, not for the constitution and is not being honest

I don’t care if it’s what goes on, so we should know it, it’s a lie. And Otis corrupt

THAT is what drives people to Trump. Just for some hint of relief from this acceptance of disingenuousness

It’s unacceptable that’s all
