There was a 1988 British TV special, aired on PBS’s Masterpiece Theater here, titled “A Very British Coup.” A Labour PM went to the Soviet Union for financial backing to solve a British financial crisis, and he was overthrown at the end in a military coup.

I remember that. And I believe the Labour PM was modeled on Arthur Scargill, the Marxist mine union leader.
