At the 2014 U.S.-African Leaders’ Summit, crowd members started chanting "Allah Akbar!"
Immediately, Obama in response to the chanting made a perfect formed Usbu al-Shahada – the Finger of Shahada.
The Shahada is the fundamental declaration of Muslim faith. "There is only one God and Muhammad is his messenger."
Many of the African delegates where shocked because the Usbu al-Shahada is the non-verbal profession of the Muslim faith.

Whoa. That is amazing and I did not know it.
But of course he would; he was raised for many years as a tiny boy by a Muslim man, his Indonesian stepdad. And he had the Pakistani friends in Los Angeles at Oxy.

This hand sign was definitely a response to the person saying Allahu Akbar behind him. It was so fast and, presumably to Obama, away from the camera so as to assume no one outside of his group of leaders would ever see it. Amazingly, that one reporter did. It looks like some of those African leaders saw it and looked somewhat surprised.
Looking at the video it was as if someone said a team slogan like “Hook em horns” and Obama did a quick agreement with the hand sign but super fast in case others around were supporting a different team. You know? Like he wanted to get his Muslim “cool” cred in, but discreetly.
