The unquenchable human instinct is almost invariably toward power so it is not surprising that the old powers in Europe which have caused so many terrible wars would seek to reassert themselves. This has occurred and could only have occurred with the failure of the United States fulfill its proper leadership role.

My neighbors here love to bitch endlessly about American arrogance and overweening influence in the world but in some respects they are like bumptious teenagers who will act like those in the Lord of the Flies without to adult supervision.

But you're absolutely right, over the course of the Cold War the tendency of SPD politicians and chancellors of Germany was always to try to find a third way, to triangulate between the US and the USSR. I have been very concerned on these threads that the policies of Barack Obama (and even those of George Bush by way of opening the Iraq war) are leaving the way open for these tendencies to reassert themselves and a real danger of a Berlin/Moscow/Beijing axis could evolve. Throw in a Syria/Iran/Russia alliance and the isolation of the democracies will be complete.

I’m advising Britain to pull out of EU.

Sorry; misunderstood.

It should not be on the collective’s terms. Thatcher was right about this.

“A lot of our volunteer military forces are minorities not fully assimilated to the US. One fear is they could be used against a population they aren’t entirely loyal to.”

Where did you get this tidbit?

The way I got some articles to come up is by using the research topic “Gangs in the US Military”.

EU army? So no one is responsible for their own nations defense? That means an easy victory for the coming Hordes.
