Russian businessmen buying property in Israel don't spend much time here - but they feel safe.
Israel has become a "neutral zone" for Russian Jewish oligarchs buying property in the country, "where they can all meet, safe from extradition for (often politically motivated) indictments," according to an article in the Economist.
Even though few of the businessmen "spend more than a few weekends a year" at their homes in Israel, according to the article, "many of them have gone to the trouble of obtaining Israeli citizenship" – which they are entitled to under the Law of Return.
