My husband and I met in Germany in 1962. When we met I could barely speak English. I had English in school but we learned the Oxford English which was totally useless and I had lost interest it.

To make a long story short, by the time my husband was transferred back to the States in 1966 and we all came here I was able not just to speak English, but also to read and write English

Good for you—it must have been a lot of work.

If you still have relatives or friends there have you heard anything about the immigrant crisis?
