Jeb Bush says it will cost "hundreds of billions of dollars" to deport illegal aliens. President Eisenhower, however, deported a million alone in the space of a year, and with only 750 deportation agents, in an operation with a name we would never use today: Operation Wetback.
Some 750 agents swept northward through agricultural areas with a goal of 1,000 apprehensions a day. By the end of July, over 50,000 aliens were caught... Another 488,000, fearing arrest, had fled the country. By September, 80,000 had been taken into custody in Texas, and an estimated 500,000 to 700,000 illegals had left the Lone Star State voluntarily.
Unlike today, Mexicans caught in the roundup were not simply released at the border, where they could easily reenter the US. To discourage their return, Swing arranged for buses and trains to take many aliens deep within Mexico before being set free.
Tens of thousands more were put aboard two hired ships, the Emancipation and the Mercurio. The ships ferried the aliens from Port Isabel, Texas, to Vera Cruz, Mexico, more than 500 miles south.
The sea voyage was "a rough trip, and they did not like it," says Don Coppock, who worked his way up from Border Patrolman in 1941 to eventually head the Border Patrol from 1960 to 1973.

Sure we would. Use the hell out of it:
Wetback, wetback, wetback, wetback, wetback, wetback, wetback, wetback, wetback, wetback, wetback, wetback
Collapse their economy, skyrocketing crime rates, anarchy...all things they desperately deserve, as the President of Mexico had repeatedly proven himself to be an enemy of the US.
You keep telling us “that’s not an answer.” So what is the answer?
I just want to hear Trump say “Operation Wetback” and see the resulting media meltdown, then the embarrassment when the media finds out that it was really called that....but of course the media never gets embarrassed.
don’t waste your time with him.
same element who wrings their hands on Iran saying “What are we going to do? We have to allow them nuclear warheads, even as they stab us and threaten to eliminate us?
I am not saying I have an answer I am trying to open a serious discussion on the topic...
Man its getting harder to do that here lately.
What happens to the Mexican Economy when we build a fence and deport 19 million illegals.
I am worried about it causing massive unrest in Mexico, and causing an actual invasion by some diaper heads, who then set up another terror base
I do not give a mierda about what happens in that narco state. Neither should any American. Build the damn wall now.
What the heel do you think the wall is for you idiot?
Nothing is going to happen of any consequence in that cesspit...it will lumber along like it has for hundreds of years. The same several families that run the country will still run it.
What is wrong with you?
Are you unable to hold a conversation without name calling?
ASS HOLE
Hey, do you never stop to consider the consequences of your actions?
I am all for tossing them out, tomorrow, and sincerely don’t give a dam what happens to mexico. I am not a ‘concern troll’ suggesting we don’t do it because it might be so awful ...
But that does not mean there will be no consequences, AND DONT YOU THINK WE SHOULD CONSIDER WHAT THOSE CONSEQUENCES MIGHT BE AND PREPARE?????
Or would you like are Army and Navy to just wing it... and decide what to do when the time comes?
For chrissakes you ask a serious question here and you uncover the morons...
So you don’t have an answer, you don’t know what it is, yet you can definitively declare that “that’s Mexico’s problem” is not an answer?
You have concerns about that COA, but your FUD doesn’t eliminate options.
The guy is an idiot who, like a lib, cannot be engaged in a debate.
If it was me, I would consider it a declaration of war that a country would flood my country with its own citizens or refuse to take them back.
I would defeat them decisively and then install a dictator to control them, just like MacArthur did to Japan. It made them a better place.
Looks like Hungary has the same thought.

Mexican culture and Japanese culture are very different. I don’t know what would work down there. Are our methods interchangeable across nations? I doubt it.
“Are our methods interchangeable across nations? I doubt it.”
who cares? The Japanese are as foreign to what we are as anybody in the world.
The point is use our power to hold them off, rather than let them internally subvert us(as well as killing our kids with new diseases, cocaine, rape and murder, etc.)
My point is we pacified Japan due in part to the general discipline their culture inherently practices, particularly in defeat.
Should we even attempt to pacify Mexico? Or invade and seize their resources? Or just smash them and keep a big wall between us with the promise to return later if needed?
What worked in one place isn’t guaranteed to work in another, so we would likely need to pursue a different course of action.
how did the Texians and later the USA beat them?
can that answer your question?
Europe is becoming a basket case as it is not controlling its borders nor are assimilating those coming in. I couldn’t believe the changes I saw last year when I made a visit there after living there 30 years ago. It is getting worse and I doubt I would ever again visit there, much less live there.
This can happen here too if we continue to path we are on. Obama says assimilation is unnecessary, which means they will not learn out language, our customs, or even our government, if there is no assimilation.
This is an internal war fought by factions in America who have decided we need to change, regardless of the desires of current citizens.
The war is near, and it will not be pleasant.
Take ‘em down now.
