My guess is that the ad was from a local filling station and the Cities Service, AAA and other logos was just part of the ad. At that time, 1972, I doubt AAA had even heard of Bernie Sanders.

There was quite a push from both political parties in favor Hillary Clinton in a past primary for the presidency. Most voters went so far as to nominate Obama to avoid Hillary. What might be perceived as Sanders’ growing popularity on the left may also be more of an opposition against Hillary.
