They hoped to get rich off real estate, and who would be a better mentor than one of the richest men in the world? So they enrolled in Donald Trumps university to learn the tricks of the trade, some of them maxing out their credit cards to pay tens of thousands of dollars for insider knowledge they believed could make them wealthy.
With Trump rising in the polls as the front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination, his brief foray into education is an episode and a business failure that remains far more obscure than other chapters of the celebrity billionaires career.
Never licensed as a school, Trump University was in reality a series of real estate workshops in hotel ballrooms around the country, not unlike many other for-profit self-help or motivational seminars. Though short-lived, it remains a thorn in Trumps side nearly five years after its operations ceased: In three pending lawsuits, including one in which the New York attorney general is seeking $40 million in restitution, former students allege that the enterprise bilked them out of their money with misleading advertisements.
Instead of a fast route to easy money, these Trump University students say they found generic seminars led by salesmen who pressured them to invest more cash in additional courses. The students say they didnt learn Trumps secrets and never received the one-on-one guidance they expected.
Its a chapter of Trumps past that shows how he sometimes defies the usual laws of campaign physics. Such allegations of multimillion-dollar fraud might sink other candidates, but in Trumps case, even some of the students who felt duped said they havent given up on him: They like Trump. They admire him. They might even vote for him.

Well well well it sounds like something new for the MSM to climb all over Donald about.
Go for it, MSM. Maybe Donald is no better than you after all, but the scene should be quite amusing even so.
Gee, same idiots that buy crap off the TV at 2 am from midgets telling you how to flip houses.
Trump will run and if elected will leave conservatives in tears. That is my opinion. This marriage is not made in heaven.
And you seem to be standing in league with your buddies the facist that love to control what we say and do.
Trump isn’t the State University of New York.
I blasted both McCain and Romney even after they wond the nomination. So according to your first grad logic I had common interest with Obama and the gang.
I bet your the guy at the bar that everyone interrupts.
My buddies are the ones that can spell.
I don't drink, so no....
Spelling flames are lame flames
No he isn’t that sleazy or expensive.
Most University degrees aren’t worth the paper they are written on, yet they cost a fortune.
Over promise and under perform is standard operating procedure in the American University system. Since the late eighties anything coming out of university not in the hard sciences is suspect at best.
If you’re talking liberal arts that is frequently the case. Professional schools are a different story.
I’m curious, but wonder if we ever WILL get past the allegations to any sort of factual account in this Trump dispute. This might be a move to get some hush money and then only God and Trump and the students will know. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are some significant distortions in the accounts given here, however.

That’s lame too
RE: Trump will run and if elected will leave conservatives in tears.
Well many people don’t want to believe that. Just consider the attacks on me when I post articles that question his background and you begin to understand.
Instead of posting responses that tell us why the article is wrong or is untrue, they question the wisdom of even posting the article in the first place.
People are simply interested in him as an anti-establishment rebel candidate, without any interest whatsoever in what they will be getting into.
Even from WP, all that is visible to us here is a he said she said dispute.
From that source there should be a “take with a giant grain of salt” warning. Already the dug in Trump bashers are screaming that it’s the truth about Trump. That says more about the bashers than about Trump, frankly.
I think that accurately fits every university in the entire nation.
Will Trump give us more gays? More abortion? More socialized medicine? More pro Islamic treaties and immigration? I don’t think that even if he was really supportive of these causes, he could make it worse!
No matter what anyone thinks, Trump cares about America and is not bent on destroying it like the current regime.
Two Words. John Roberts.
Charge: Trump is not Conservative enough.First, when Trumps Republican critics claim that hes not a conservative, they mean to imply both that they are conservatives and that Trump is really a liberal Democrat.
Their rhetoric notwithstanding, the first implication is patently false: Trumps GOP rivals and detractors are most decidedly not conservative. The Republican Party is every bit as much a champion of Big Government and the Politically Correct ideology that its been used to promote as is its counterpart (To anyone who takes issue with this judgment, I pose one simple challenge: I defy you to identify a single government program, let alone an agency or department, that Republicans have cut. Ill even be generous and allow you to go all the way back to the Reagan years. I guarantee that you cant do it).

It was all sold exactly like a Tony Robbins event.
Any who went expecting to learn inside secrets or get truly special counseling were fooling themselves.
Wow! Well this changes everything! /sarc
