I always thought Perry was riding a wave he did nothing to create. Just like Mike Dukakis rode the economic boom that Massachusetts was having in the 1980s all the way to the Democrat nomination. Then the rest of the country saw him for the empty suit he actually was.

Both. A democrap governor could have derailed a good many achievements but also Texas provides opportunity for anyone to be great.

Arguably some of both. I realize many here disagree, and he had his shortcomings, but I thought Perry was a pretty good governor. ESPECIALLY in relation to some of the other useless pieces of ‘rat crap we’ve been stuck with.
