Boston has yet another conservative talk station (where are the liberal ones other than NPR? Oh right, they don't make money). Salem Media's WBIX 1260 (which had been Mickey Mouse operation Radio Disney) is now on the air (not online though?) with the usual lineup found on Salem's "Answer" stations like their 1250 in Pittsburgh. Bill Bennett, Mike Gallagher, Dennis Praeger, Michael Medved, and Hugh Hewitt. Apparently a legal show at night, Daily Defense? And news from Salem's townhall.com
It was thought the station would go business news, and maybe biz news will be a part of it (Wall St Journal Network)...there's lots of market stuff on the site.
No local hosts apparently (in Pitt. at least there's Rose Tennant). This means Boston has conservative talk on:
WRKO 680: boston.com morning show, Jeff Kuhner, Howie Carr
WBZ 1030: at night with Dan Rea
WKOX 1430: The iHeart/Premiere lineup: Rush, Hannity, Beck, Meghan "RINO" McCain, and some Fox Sports
WMEX 1510: Or, "my rich aunt bought the station". Renegade Radio, Herald Radio, Michele McPhee etc
Oh, and on 1260 too :)
Usually Salem’s conservative talk stations are called The Answer but this one is The Buzz; if you know the Answer, hit your Buzz-er.
Dan Rea is sort of middle of the road (right wing wingnut by LSM standards), and scrupulously honest and intelligent, but not avowedly right-wing. That’s good enough for me.
That is not conservative...more of a rino/lefty lite line-up....will grab some listeners in the pre-moonbat stage...thats about it.
Thanks for the info. Kuhner’s often juvenile behavior makes him an embarassment to conservatives. Him for Rush. What a crappy trade. And no more Levin. Rko must be hurting for cash. New morning show is ghastly. and howie carr is no conservative. Everyone around him is a lib (sandy, vb, even his producer). howie ultimately cares about one thing. His wallet.
And finally, Michelle Mcphee?!?! Are you joking? Fingernails on a chalkboard in every regard.
I wouldn’t call Dan Rea conservative. Avi Nelson would be conservative in my opinion but it is clear that WRKO has made a conscious decision to keep him off the air, even as a guest host. It is Monday morning and I am listening to WBUR now because the WRKO programming is so insipid.
McPhee facing drunk driving challenges but will do a “secret of her success” talk. WMEX owners paid $75k for a 50,000 watt station
Howie conservative compared to most in Boston but VB...voted for Obama! In 08 only though; col Hunt voted for Obama too. Levin on 1430 9-mid but signal bad.
If it’s anything like 1250 in Pittsburgh it’ll be called The Buzz because it will have so many technical issues as to render it virtually unlistenable.
