Trump says high pay for CEOs is a joke and 'disgraceful'

U.S. Republican party presidential frontrunner Donald Trump said on Sunday high salaries paid to chief executives were a "joke" and a "disgrace" and said these were often approved by company boards stacked with the CEO's friends.

Trump, a real estate mogul who has said he plans to use his net worth of $8.7 billion to fund his White House campaign, said in an interview with CBS's "Face the Nation" that it was hard to tackle the question of corporate pay because too many corporate boards lacked independence.

"It's disgraceful. Sometimes the boards rule but I would probably say it's less than 10 percent; and you see these guys making enormous amounts of money. It's a total and complete joke," he said.

What you said is exactly what happened and how it gets solved.

Post #44 - thanks. Far too often, somebody will post what Trump says from the leftist media who took it out of context and then bleat that Trump is a leftist too.

Dude, your talking about millions and millions, most freepers are not in that league. Your argument is so preposterous to be almost a joke.

Most Freepers, hell anyone really, would be glad to make one million thern bank it and go on their way.

You are pretty out of touch, are you multi millionaire or something?

Looking at the big picture, middle America’s wages went stagnant and have been looted for 2 decades now. During this time period, most of middle America was economically decimated. This is not a secret to most paying attention.

Meanwhile most CEO’s during that same time period, have enjoyed the fortunes of Sultans and kings.

It’s all good right boyrude?

The thing is nobody else is even talking about the issue of our time, and really meaning it. You obviously don't see the unabated immigration/invasion as an existential the to the USA. I think Trump does.

Cruz is a phony.

Trump had me at 'wall'.

Do you think you are capable of running a publicly traded company? I know I'm not. People who run these companies get paid the amounts they do because there are few people who can do what they do. Same for sports figures, actors and other people who get paid lots of money for doing things other people can't do.

Life's not fair. Grow up and get used to it.

“So, Donald. Are you a free market capitalist or not?”

The problem appears to be boards that are not independent and are as rife with crony capitalism as DC.

The CEO’s are business geniuses right? They deserve reaping these fantasy fortunes because of the big league profits they themselves created.

Is this correct boyrude?

Excellent analysis by relative newbie!

In a TRUE Free Market, I do not care what ANY person makes.
I am only concerned with the wage I can negotiate for myself.

It is a absolute red herring to go down this path.

It only falls into the leftward thinking of “that’s not fair!!!!”

I could care less about what someone makes.
Let the market decide. If the company is losing money, the market will decide.

If I am capable of negotiating a multi-billion dollar contract with a legal entity, then no one else should be involved. Period.

Walter Cronkite liberal bast- rd made too much.
Dan f’ng Rather made too much.
Any employee of MSNBC/NBC makes too much
CNN makes too much.

Hell, Rush Limbaugh makes too much.

Who decides what is “Too much” in a truly free market?

Even though the embeciles in our country elected this dolt twice, I want to believe in the capitalist Instincts of our country.

A businessman/builder can be short on principles as easily as a politician.

And I’m not going to create new lax standards for Trump. I know his history. Nothing there gives me reason to trust him; in fact, the opposite is true.

Well, if your typical CEO is just a regular schlub, why don’t you imitate one in order to get his job? And the money.

He is trying to justify a 10 million dollar salary. It is an uphill battle but I will listen to it, kind of comical.

Like listening to Thurston Howell bitch about the high cost of caviar.

BTTT #15. The large corporate manufacturers sold the American worker and consumer out.

Their greed has blinded them to the fact that eventually their necks too will eventually end up on the chopping block.
