I don't think Carson's supporters are listening to anything he says or learning about where he stands.
How else to explain his consistently strong polling?
I have liked him for some time.
But squishiness on abortion and 2nd Amendment is off-putting.
Besides, when it’s his time, the media will destroy him because he doesn’t know how to counterpunch like the Trumpster and Cruz.
His popularity? White man’s guilt on the right? He’s not unlikeable but I don’t he’s as tough as Trump or Cruz.
Somebody inGOPe for to him. He wasn’t saying these things a couple of weeks ago. First, Trumps faith, then amnesty lite, then the Gentle Giant comment and now this. All in a very short time period of time?
“I don’t think Carson’s supporters are listening to anything he says or learning about where he stands...How else to explain his consistently strong polling?”
Actually it was a relatively recent bump that started with his joke at the end of the August debate. From there, he climbed a bit and then the GOPe began pushing him, with the goal to stop Trump and then, of course, dump Carson for Jeb/Rubio/Walker.
The media, also wanting to stop Trump, began pushing Carson - but VERY FEW Republicans knew a damn thing about him other than he was black, could deliver a joke, and has a great life story. For Republicans who don’t trust Trump, many of them here, Carson seemed like a safe place to park their support.
But when you read the comments on this thread, you can tell a number of the people are very disappointed in Carson, meaning that they were liking him in the past - but now that they know him better, he’s just another guy whose political positions have been molded by the media, as he was likely too busy rewiring brains to have enough time to develop them on his own.
Bottom line, his numbers will quickly fade...and most of that support will go to Trump.
