Back in those days, the Republican Party hadn’t quite yet morphed into the (r)epublican party and demoncraps lite.
I see. well, Reagan did have to overcome some pretty leftist types in the “R-establishment” ... as I recall.
But yes, its gotten to be a very split outfit
(there are millions of D’s wno do not support nearly as much communism or fascism as does the party leadership, so the D party has a somewhat similar split personality maybe?)
we might really want to someday consider a parliamentary system with multiple parties.... at least it might do away with the new King geOrge type of dictatorship in one man
