A lot of customs have been abandoned and adopted since the Old Testament. It would be impossible, both culturally and legally for a large society to live that way literally.

They’re saying that since ideas of marriage have “evolved” this ipso facto makes it okay for marriage to “evolve” in the direction it is being ballyhooed by the luggbutts.
They can’t miss that it still was a man and a woman who generally would have children and raise them in a family. This is not like the difference between cherry and strawberry pie. This is like the difference between cherry pie and a hunk of cement.
