Scum? A man in his 40's had sex with a woman in her 40s. Given all of the truly vile scandals of Congresspersons in the past, I don't think this rises to the level of "scum". Dumb, sure... but "scum"?
Maybe you have an issue with them being self-identified TEA Party folks in Michigan?

No doubt they put themselves in this position but that’s the way politics work. Any dirt is collected and used to maximum effectiveness.
Had they been lockstep GOPe types this would have been quietly handled and nobody would be out.
