Third of migrants in Italy refuse ID

About a third of the migrants that have reached Italy so far this year have refused to be identified, according to Italian police.

Syrians and Eritreans are among those most likely to refuse to be identified upon arrival, forensic police chief Daniela Stradiotto told a parliamentary commission. Out of the 122,000 people that have arrived on Italian shores this year, 41,000 people have refused identification. EU regulation requires immigrants' asylum applications to be handled by the country they first reach. But many of the migrants do not wish to stay in Italy, rather they are hoping to reach countries such as Germany, Sweden and Britain.

Stradiotto said the offices managing migrant arrivals and identifications in Italy were sufficiently staffed. However, many migrants are refusing the process and regulation prevents police from holding them for more than 12 hours, or forcing them through photo and fingerprint ID procedures.

"If the foreigner refuses to be identified then it is not possible to proceed," she said.

She said new rules were needed to allow police to hold immigrants for up to 72 hours in order to try to force them to be identified.

As soon as they refuse, pack them onto a boat and return them to the hellhole they came from. Put them on the boat within two hours. Do not allow them to get back off, even if they agree to identify themselves. No ifs, ands, or buts.

SO of the likely 10K that Mrs Obamas lil boy Barry wants to invite to destroy america....the number likely not to identify themselves might be around 3k?

Really REALLY bad odds.

At what point did the people begging for assistance begin to demand ANYTHING? I don’t understand that mentality at all.

[Syrians and Eritreans are among those most likely to refuse to be identified upon arrival]

If they refuse to be identified, how do they know where they are from?

Just because they are mixed in with others from Syria doesn’t mean they are from Syria.

They should tell Germany that these are yours unless you forgive some of our debt. They borrow 10 billion from Germany and the money only goes to pay to the banks for interest on previous loans. Greece is being forced to give assets to the banks and the EU now has veto power over the Greek parliament. A model that will be repeated in Portugal, Italy, Spain and France.

I bet they regret ever joining this mess that is the EU.

Couldn’t you do both? Put them on a slow boat back to Africa, and about halfway across the Mediterranean sink said boat with a torpedo from a submarine.

With his latest statements, urging Catholics to take ISIS fighters into their homes, the Pope has reached new depths of stupidity. I think his trip to the U.S. will see him spouting even more idiocy.

When my brother was in Vietnam, one of the chaplains said they should take all the South Vietnamese several miles out to sea in boats, and then bomb the Communists until the whole country was glass. And then sink the boats.

You don’t deal much with welfare folk do you.
My MOST demanding ER patients are those on Medicaid, or no insurance.

How do these supposedly poor, supposed refugees know so much about gaming the system ahead of time?
