In my weekend column I offered a concrete plan to undermine President Obamas atrocious Iran deal. It is an easy one, because all that the Republican-controlled Congress has to do, if it really wants to derail this thing, is follow the law that they wrote and Obama signed, the Corker law the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015, sometimes also known as Corker-Cardin, after Senate sponsors Bob Corker (R., Tenn.) and Ben Cardin (D., Md.). Sadly, in another iteration of the anger that is the wind beneath Donald Trumps wings, many readers insist that GOP leadership has no intention to block Obama on Iran. If that is so, it is passing strange. The national-security threat here is grave.
Plus, how much credibility can Republicans have (maybe I should just end the sentence there) in complaining about Obamas disregard of federal law if they wont even follow the law they themselves enacted just four months ago? In my column I demonstrate that Obama has failed to comply with the crystal-clear conditions spelled out in the Corker law. This is indisputable. Side deals that the statute explicitly requires to be disclosed to Congress involving, for example, IAEA inspection terms and Irans prior nuclear work have been withheld.
Consequently, Republicans must abandon the Corker disapproval process and pass a resolution explaining that Obama has failed to comply with the condition that would trigger that rigged process the duty to provide the entire Iran deal to Congress by July 19. If Republicans fail to do this, they may get their high-profile opportunity to express futile political opposition to Obamas appeasement of Iran. But they will very likely have forfeited their only legally meaningful way to preserve the anti-nuke sanctions Obama is desperate to repeal.
Surrender . . . Then Play-Fight is political gamesmanship. But this is not a game. This is a call for statesmanship to preserve legal restrictions that impede terror-promoting enemies of the United States from acquiring weapons of mass destruction.

Today that sorry McConnell STOPPED ALL AMENDMENTS to the Iran sell out. He is WORSE THAN REID!!
The whole point of the Corker bill was to give them enough slack to mount a faux opposition, knowing that it would pass because they changed the math. They all need to be held accountable...and I’m looking at you Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and Rand Paul.
The Republicans will not do this—The “deal” will pass.
Then, after Iran nukes Tel Aviv, the Republicans will be blamed for allowing the “deal” to pass.
The EXEMPT Undocumented Demoncrats:
"We absolutely support our Moslem King and Caliph
and hate US vets and conservatives with a passion
and gladly launch our IRS attacks on both."
That Corker-Cardin law is a real corker.
All U.S. Senators are responsible for the passing of the Iran deal as the link above shows. Now Iran will be able to nuke U.S. cities like this with suitcase nukes. We have a couple of years left:
I SO fear you are correct.
The liars, thieves and perverts in Versailles on the Potomac believe that their oath of office means nothing. Violating an oath is a capital offense. Time it was enforced.
“...and Im looking at you Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and Rand Paul.”
I have challenged Cruz supporters to explain/justify his vote on that monstrosity of a bill. So far, the only explanation they will offer is what a horrible hypocrite Trump is. I am not allowed by site rules to relay my thinking on the politicians who voted for that bill. It is truly beyond human comprehension. We are being governed by fools.
Well said. That is exactly what they did.
What a sham our constitution is!
Treaties require a 2/3 approval, and for good reason. However, Cardin, Corker, Lindsey Graham co-sponsor bill that inverts the numbers. How ridiculous this is even possible!
The only thing I can think of is that businesses are interested in making money off the $150 billion that Iran is going to receive. Maybe they are lobbying Congress heavily. Why else would Congress jeopardize the future safety of the country, unless it is short term greed?
The important thing here is that the Chamber of Cronies gets what it paid for!
Ok guys, educate me. You are now the junior senator from Texas. What would you have done?
Why would they do that?
The same as Senator Cotton from Arkansas did. He was the only senator who voted against the Corker bill.
Andrew REALLY hits the nail on the head. Very accurate article.
