Cruz has said he is against accepting "large numbers" of them and the goal should be to get them returned home rather than becoming permanently resettled.
Many just jumping on the anti-Trump bandwagon w/o really thinking and analyzing the words vs. intent - Trump put out a "compassionate-but-not-fully-formed" statement that strikes a chord in most folks hearts when undue suffering is going on in really large dollops.
Trump still believes in controlling who gets in and maintaining our sovereignty.
