I agree that a full, triple-layer fence across the entire border is unnecessary and expensive. There are areas where such a fence is appropriate, but there are other areas where a network of cameras, sensors drones and patrols would be better. The point is not to wed ourselves to one particular type of security. The point is commit to securing the border once and for all.

Hurd announced his candidacy on November 19, 2009 for the Republican nomination in Texas's 23rd congressional district, a district which is two-thirds Hispanic

We have the same problem with John “Build the Dang Wall McCain. In my community in southern AZ, we’ve got a recall of local council members and the mayor, so being around my town mates, I can tell we will be getting rid of him and his mini me Sen. Jeff Flake.

I can’t tell you how sorry we are to have foisted these turncoats on the nation. But I will help to get rid of these amnesty aiders.

....But if Trump gets elected, those same folks will, let’s just say, pee in their pants.

His solution was

1)walls in populated area
2)go hard after visa scofflaws
3)work with Mexican law partners countering drug and human traffickers.
4)enforce standing laws and do away with sanctuary cities.

The corporate lobby has been able to privatize the gains and socialize the costs of a wide open border for decades and they want things to stay that way.

It just doesn’t work.

How embarrassing that this man is from Texas.

WHAT WE'RE DOING NOW ISN'T WORKING, YOU JACK ASS!

So let's try something no one has seriously tried yet...

Just stopping a few terrorists would make it worthwhile.

I watched his interview this morning on Morning Joe.

He’s a black guy representing what he called “a swing district.”

I took that to mean his verbiage is limited (squishy) in order to keep his House seat.

Armed patrol with shoot-on-sight orders would be much more efficient.

Mr. Peabody :"..The wall is law and has been passed several times.
Get to work Hurd or be Cantorized!"

THE NEW WALL is what OBungler ordered for himself !
The NEW WALL is what is protecting ISRAEL from Jordan !
The NEW WALL is what is protecting the mayor of New York City from the voters.
So build the NEW WALL that has been legislated .. for years now , to protect our Southern Border ,or
await those whom the Administration armed years ago in FAST AND FURIOUS with automatics ,and military grade munitions.
Rep. Hurd , either work on THE NEW WALL on the Southern Border, or we'll find someone who will work , or else , get out of the way !
IGNORANCE OF THE LAW IS NO EXCUSE !
Selective ignorance of law is not acceptable in a nation ruled by " The Rule of Law ".

The one 360° around Vatican City works well, too.

Anyhow, Hurd has erected a straw man. Trump never advocated an unbroken wall. He includes barbed wire, razor wire, drones, electronics and video, plus human patrols. But what would one expect from a politician? Hurd is just the latest. Probably a Perry accolyte.

Ask Israel how ineffective it is. They reduced murders by infiltrating terrorists by 99.6%

Just understand that we are being replaced. If you get that through your head, then the stupid arguments begin to make sense.

BS. The wall is the easiest and cheapest part of controlling our borders. Build it once, and it stays built (with very minor repairs). If you have only patrols, you have ongoing salary, sick leave, medical expenses, pensions, administrative expenses, etc., etc. Plus you get to pay for LOTS of vehicles, fuel for same, repairs for same, etc., etc. A wall won’t eliminate the need for personnel and equipment, but it will lessen it considerably.

Additionally, making it more difficult for illegals to enter (or re-enter, as the case may be), will save us billions per year in welfare, medical and schooling costs, not to mention having less crime (which means lower insurance premiums, less medical, and less misery). The pay-off is SUBSTANTIAL.

Hurd is clearly one of the “Can’t do” crowd, after having been bought off by his contributors. If we could build a transcontinental railroad nearly 150 years ago, if the Chinese could build a wall of 5,500 miles many centuries ago, and if the US could send a man to the moon in 8 years, then for certain we can build this wall. Hurd cannot be honest - he KNOWS that we can build it, and that it will be effective - because to do so would cost him campaign contributions and possibly his next election. SICKENING!!!

Correct, and the other straw man argument has been asked and answered. The US gives Mexico 30 Billion dollars a year. So we take the money from the gifts and put it into the wall.
No problems.

Another dipshit who gets elected to public office and thinks he’s an expert on... everything! He’s from Texas’ 23rd Congressional District, i.e., San Antonio, and has a 43% “F” rating from Conservative Review. Obviously a Boehner lapdog...
