How nice for the taxpayers of Baltimore.
He must have been a very high income earner to merit such a large settlement.

How nice for the taxpayers of Baltimore. How much do you think a Baltimore jury would have awarded his family?

Didn't he have a history of injuring himself but trying to make it look like it was the authorities' fault? It has been plausibly suggested that he caused his own death by injuring himself, hoping for a payoff...it turns out he succeeded beyond his wildest dreams (thanks to the riots) but his family gets to spend the money instead of himself.
This may make it harder for the police officers to get a fair trial, if the city has basically said it was a wrongful death.
