They still havent figured out Donald Trump.
GOP leaders thought theyd outfox the frontrunner-they-dont-want by making him sign a mafia-style loyalty pledge to the GOP. He signed it, no problem. And why not? The Republican Party isnt exactly the Sopranos. What are they going to do if he breaks the pledge anyway? Break his thumbs?
In return, the geniuses behind this idea have now forced every other GOP contender to vow support for Trump if he wins the nominationalong with whoever he chooses as his running mate. Which prompts us to ask a fun and fascinating question: Just who would that running mate be?
Too soon to envision a Trump ticket, you say? Well, why should that stop us? After all, America has had to endure a year or more of earnest speculation among DC pundits about a potential Bush or Clinton White Housevision quests that are literally putting voters to sleep. So what exactly would GOP nominee Trump do? We know, of course, what the ever-predictable professional political class would advise: that Trump pick someone with considerable Washington experience to balance the ticket. Maybe a solid Midwestern senator like Rob Portman. Or someone who can help solve his alleged problems with the women, like a Kelly Ayotte or maybe a Nikki Haley. He might, theyd suggest, pick a safe, calming choicelike some of the more establishment-approved Republicans hed just run against. A Jeb Bush or a John Kasich or a Marco Rubio.

“Diamond” and “Silk” as co-press secretaries. That would be a hoot. I love it....and them.
I agree on all points, and Cruz is my real favorite...but he is from a gimme Republican state. Does he really help the ticket?
Cruz is my pick too
His knowledge of the Constitution is what is important to me; along with his stand for liberty and religious freedom.
No other candidate understand America as well as Cruz.
Hate to break it to you, but it does not appear he has peaked yet.
If Trump is the longshot, then who is the favorite?
If you give me longshot odds on Trump, how much of a bet are you willing to cover?
I'll bet you $100 if you give me 20-1 odds. The winnings will be contributed to Free Republic.
Stupid hypothesis....
Running mates are not announced until Memorial Day.
Is it September 2015 or September 2016?
Cart meet Horse or is it Horse meet Cart?
Where do you think Megyn Kelly's mean to women meme came from? They sifted thru tons of old Apprentice episodes to find that woman on her knees quote. And what came of it? Trumps popularity took off, his previously high negatives plummeted - and the media is gobstopped. Frank Lutzs knees are shaking. They will reload and try it again, and it will fail again - precisely for the reasons Sundance cited in the article that started this thread. Trumps support is not really for Trump as Trump - its for Trump as none of the above - and no deference to 'the MSM.'
IMHO we will have a bad hangover from this bender with Trump - but we just refuse to accept the #$@% sandwich we would get otherwise.
Primaries are done. I called it for Trump the other day. They are just a formality now.
No other candidate has the votes to win 8 primaries. So Trump will go to the convention as the only possible nominee.
PERFECT!
Go soak your head _______ Fill in the blank.
You aint paying attention
That ticket would not need any help.In any other election yes but not this one.
Well, yeah, if it goes down like 1980 did. Priebus and Cheney and the Wall St vultures will corner Trump and tell him if he doesn’t pick Jeb Bush as his VP they will make sure that Biden will beat him in the general election.
Wait till they decide to get around to the real meaty stuff like “blacks are lazy” and “I don’t want black guys counting my money”.
The media has treated Mr Delicate Flower with kid gloves so far. They’ve prodded him just enough for the bread and circuses to continue. If you manage to nominate him then the real show will begin. They’ll grind him into a thin paste and I intend to remind his “followers” every single day as it happens.
A Bushie attempting to discredit Trump.
