Liberal PAC CREDO Action is championing a petition pressuring House Speaker John Boehner to return Reagan International Airport to its original name, Washington International Airport. The petition is in response to Boehners outcry against President Obama renaming Mount McKinley to the native Denali.
The petition states: Boehner announced he is deeply disappointed in President Obamas decision. But in 1998, John Boehner and his fellow Republicans in Congress werent so hesitant to remove a presidents name from a public landmark when they decided to rename Washington National Airport after Ronald Reagan.
Boehner has said that he is disappointed with President Obama for removing President McKinleys name from the mountain, mostly because he believes the 19th century president earned the honor through his service to the country in the Civil War.
There is a reason President McKinleys name has served atop the highest peak in North America for more than 100 years, and that is because it is a testament to his great legacy. He made a difference for his constituents and he led this nation to prosperity and victory in the Spanish-American War, Boehner said in his statement.
The bill, passed in 1998 by a Republican majority and signed by President Clinton, was part of a celebration of President Reagans 87th birthday. According to The Washington Post, Michael Reagan, son of President Reagan, spoke before the US House and Senate in support of congressmen passing the bill, in order to win one more for the gipper.
The petition goes on to say that Obamas renaming of the mountain is a small but important step for recognizing the history, culture, and human rights of Americas Native Americans when he decided to rename Americas tallest mountain, Mount McKinley in Alaska, to its original name of Denali.
The PAC, a subsidiary of CREDO Mobile and Sprint Mobile, is well-known for their far-left political lobbying. In 2014, they poured $2.5 million into five Senate races where a Democrat victory was not secured. CREDO has publicly decried the Keystone XL Pipeline and supported gay marriage.
So far, the petition has earned 66,000 signatures, 89% of its goal of 75,000.
At least airport codes would be simple. Number to number.
The same with the interstate since it was a Republican’s idea.
Personally I have always supported just calling it Nation Airport and have no problem with renaming it. I do not see many people calling it Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Stupid to be naming it after living or dead people.
Still?
Given the airport’s REAL location, it should be Robert E Lee International Airport!!!!
PHOOEY to the poobahs of the politically correct!!!!
Fine, call it Soetoro Headquarters International Terminus.
The T-shirts will be perfect.
For now.
If I were president, I would change the name of the JFK airport back to Idlewild. I would also rename the Kennedy and Johnson Space Centers.
Ok, President Trump has to fix these jackasses: put Reagan on the dime, replacing Franklin Delano Commie. Reagan’s face produced several hundred million times a year ought to do the trick.
Agree, that was my reaction too. Its been Denali for decades now, no one has called it McKinley since I was a kid. So Zero is scraping the bottom of the barrel for a legacy. Or maybe he just doesn't care, his audience isn't going to question anything he does.

Kennedy was a Cretin but Ted was a MORON..
There was a program on C-SPAN3 recently about how Washington’s and Rochambeau’s forces marched to Yorktown in 1781. When the speaker was talking about how they got across the Potomac he showed maps of what is now Washington, DC, and Alexandria, VA, then and now...the map for Alexandria still had U.S. 1 labeled as Jefferson Davis Highway.
