They wanted to continue on to GERMANY, where the BENEFITS are, and they were worried that their accepting the food would lessen pressure on the Hungarian cops to permit them to continue on their way.
Had NOTHING to do with Halal, or red crosses on the packages, etc.

Why is the west taking in a bunch of cowardly fighting age young men. They should ship them back to fight for the safety of the women and children they abandoned. Bunch of useless cowards.
The women and children should be the only ones taken in and given safe harbor while their cowardly men are sent back to fight to end the threat.
If their cowardly men can’t make their country safe for them to return to, these women and children will be better off staying in the west and converting to a sane religion.
These are not cowardly men. This is an invading army.
Europe has completely disarmed their population, and now there is no one to stop their takeover by ISIS.

They are either cowards as I somewhat satirically described them, or they are an invasion force.
They most certainly will never stand for being called cowards, Angela Merkel will never describe them as cowards, therefore by default they must be invaders.
Your assessment is correct.
But I still like my idea of turning the men back, and only taking in women and children.
I would take FAMILIES, which would include the men. But single young males of military age will be turned back. In cases where I had a suspicion about the veracity of a family, I'd separate them and do a little Q&A about how well each knows the other. But hey, I'm not running the world...
