Maybe somebody can explain this to me.

So this Club for Growth attempted to solicit a $1,000,000 donation from Donald Trump.

When Trump refused, this same organization is now running an anti-Trump ad campaign?

So basically this organization is "shaking down" rich Republicans, which makes them no different than the Jesse Jacksons and Al Sharptons of the world: "If you don't pay, we will make you pay another way."

Do I have this right? Was the Club for Growth attempting to extort Donald Trump? If Trump ponied up the million dollars, would the anti-Trump ad campaign not be happening? If not, please show me where I am wrong in my analysis.

Sounds correct to me. “pay up or be destroyed” is the ancient extortion/blackmail principle.
