Police cars’ ‘In God We Trust’ decals draw complaints (Childress, TX)

A police department in a Texas Bible Belt community has placed large “In God We Trust” decals on its patrol vehicles in response to recent violence against law enforcement officers, drawing criticism from a watchdog group that says the decals amount to an illegal government endorsement of religion.

The decision by police this month to unveil the phrase in Childress, an agricultural community of some 6,100 people at the southern edge of the Texas Panhandle, follows a similar move by dozens of other police agencies elsewhere in the country. […]

… (O)f the dozens of complaints about the decals lodged in recent months by the Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation, about half were sent to law enforcement agencies in Missouri. Departments in Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Virginia and elsewhere also received complaints from the foundation, which says it will consider suing but acknowledges it can be difficult finding a plaintiff willing to be publicly identified as challenging the use of the phrase. …

I am really getting to detest the Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation.

Childress is a former Democrat stronghold of West TX.

One of my ex-girlfriends just posted an image macro on her Facebook page that read, “And one day, for no particular reason, we became offended by everything”.

I responded, “It’s a racket. Kid throws a tantrum, gets what he wants, another tantrum is sure to come, and then another. The endgame is power through the control over social interaction and it’s working, unfortunately”.

That was never the response to a tantrum when I was a kid.

The Freedom from Religion Foundation desires the non-Constitutional RIGHT to not see anything that it CONSIDERS religious ever again. In that aspect they strongly resemble their peers as the behavior matches the most intolerant advocates of any religion. A militant atheist who works to impose an atheistic viewpoint on the world is participating in a religious act by a different name.

Nor in my childhood. But it does happen in some households and we’re now seeing it on a grand scale as society devolves into a state of social decay.

God is not a Religion.

There is also no such thing as Separation of Church and State in our Constitution. It just isn’t there, no matter how much they wish it was.

The World burns and Morons with nothing better to do complain about their pet peeves. People are nuts, no doubt.

So...let ‘em complain. And let ‘em sue.

The time has come to meet them head on.

Some people have nothing better to do with their time than look for things that “offend” them.

Absolutely correct. And there was a certain different, foreign constitution that did feature it.
In order to ensure to citizens freedom of conscience, the church in the USSR is separated from the state, and the school from the church. Freedom of religious worship and freedom of antireligious propaganda is recognized for all citizens.

1936 USSR Constitution, Article 124

Citizens of the USSR are guaranteed freedom of conscience, that is, the right to profess or not to profess any religion, and to conduct religious worship or atheistic propaganda. Incitement of hostility or hatred on religious grounds is prohibited. In the USSR, the church is separated from the state, and the school from the church.

1977 USSR Constitution, Article 52
This is what the so-called “Freedom From Religion Foundation” really wants. Note their conducting of “anti-religious propaganda” as if this were the USSR.

How much do you want to bet that it’s just one or two people causing all these problems?

Anything saying Trust and including and regarding the police is suspect. Probably a better motto for most today is something like Bart Simpsons: I didn’t do it, you didn’t see me do it, and you can’t prove I did it.

Yes he is.

They literally want atheism or humanism to be the national religion of this country.

But they’re defending the constitution dontcha know.

I’ll repeat.

Morons

Worse than that- enemies of God and true freedom.
