A friend of mine has 3 kids all born a year or 2 apart and now they are starting college and he’s going crazy with the cost. I said take them out, they are not going for anything specialized like engineering, medical or legal, so pretty much all he’s paying for is leftist indoctrination after which they will graduate and have pretty much the same chance of getting a job as someone who never went. The best thing to do is get a low level job at say a company like Fedex and work their butts off. That company is fantastic, good at advancement plus they will invest in someones education if it benefits the company. There’s a lot of companies out there like that, good opportunities for advancement, 401ks, all you have to do is show you are very committed. On the other hand they can waste 6 years getting a Masters in theater or some other useless crap and find themselves in massive debt and the same position they were 6 years ago more ticked off thinking all their problems are the fault of the US. This scam that “you must go to college or you will be flipping burgers the rest of your life” is utter and complete BS. Anyone willing to work their butts off WILL be successful and it’s best to start right out of High school before you start a family.

I have a friend who has a very talented grand daughter who is going for a degree in theater costumery, or something to that effect. I cannot give my opinion, and I certainly have not been asked for it. But those are my feelings exactly. Her dad is a very hard working guy, and I hope it works out for the best. However, many of those in the arts fields, if they are lucky enough to be employed in that area end up working in sweat shop environments with little chance for advancement.

College is way over hyped, except for engineering, medicine, law, pharmacy, teaching etc. IMHO.

I went to college in the 70s and saw right before my own eyes the WW2 college professors retiring and being replaced by the hippy radicals. THAT is when college starting going downhill. One scene that is crystal clear in my head is when our English professor was retiring due to poor health, every day he came in with a suit and tie. And here came his replacement, Professor Dingleberry with his beard, tie dye shirt and sandals who right off the bat, literally the first day he took over, started bashing Republicans, Nixon, talking about evil US imperialism, you name it. I stood up, said thank you, but I’m not paying you to hear that crap, and walked out. Well barely as I had a major back injury at the time ha ha. But, yeah I dropped the class same day. The 1960s produced all these leftist jackasses who took over education and it’s been a never ending cycle since. They indoctrinate the kids, the kids grow up and become professors and the process repeats.
